I really liked the front cover of Q Magazine, as Florence and the Machine is an Indie-Pop band it's very similar to my genre for my magazine. The magazine has used obvious things to make it look, eye grabbing.
As the artist on the front cover, Florence is known for her red hair they have used it to fill the whole of the page so it makes it look like the background without really noticing that it's her hair. Her face is directly in the middle of the page which makes us straight away look in that position and makes her look reconisable to the audience. Above it says her name and a preview of what the article/interview is going to be about. As it's the biggest text on the page a part from the title of the magazine "Q", it's obvious that this is what the majority of the magazine is going to feature. They have used white text all throughout with hints of blue, which has created a housestyle theme of white and blue which compliments the background of Florence's red hair.
The title of the magazine is "Q" which is known for being a white "Q" with a background of a bright red box. The reason that it's named Q magazine is because at first they was going to name is "cue" as a sense of recording however later that name was changed to just "Q" as it may have been mistaken for a snooker magazine and that the single letter would stand out more to the audience. The colour red can connotate either danger, or in this case perhaps exclusive information, as this magazine advertises new realeases for example and promotes new artists. Red is also a primary colour, which also adds to the simplicity of the magazine being called "Q".
